MacDonald Highlands is a guard-gated Henderson community built across elevated desert terrain around DragonRidge Country Club. Its identity combines custom estates, golf, private-club amenities and long valley views.

The official spelling is MacDonald Highlands. Within the gates, the buyer experience is still highly property-specific: street elevation, golf exposure, city-light orientation, adjacent homesites and construction quality create meaningful differences.

Homes and setting

The community spans approximately 1,320 acres and includes completed custom estates, homesites and residences from a range of architectural eras. Contemporary remodels and new builds sit alongside established luxury homes, so age alone does not indicate condition or design quality.

A golf-front home may trade open space for ball exposure or club activity. A ridge home may gain a broader view while taking on more wind, sun and site complexity. Walk the outdoor areas and visit near sunset before deciding which premium matters to you.

DragonRidge and private amenities

The country club anchors the lifestyle with golf, fitness, tennis, pickleball, pool and dining. Its clubhouse is approximately 40,000 square feet, and official dining options include Dragon Grille, Onyx Bar and Montrose.

Membership structures and club access can change. Confirm the current membership category, initiation, dues, food-and-beverage expectations, transfer rules and whether a seller’s membership has any relevance to the purchase.

What’s coming and changing

MacDonald Highlands is a mature luxury community with continuing lot-by-lot custom construction rather than a simple new phase that defines the whole market. The activity to watch is the home next door, the remaining homesite in the view line, a major remodel, or a club improvement—not a speculative headline.

Ask for the current construction status of nearby lots and review the community’s architectural process. A quiet cul-de-sac of finished estates and a street with several active builds can offer very different first years of ownership.

Antonio’s must-try MacDonald Highlands stops

  • Dragon Grille for a casual club meal when access is arranged.

  • Onyx Bar for the social side of the clubhouse.

  • Montrose for the club’s more formal dining experience.

  • Green Valley Ranch and The District for nearby restaurants, shopping and an easy comparison with lower-elevation Henderson living.

Luxury buyer checklist

  • Review club and HOA obligations separately; they are not always the same decision.

  • Inspect waterproofing, roofs, drainage, retaining walls, glazing, pools and complex mechanical systems with qualified specialists.

  • Verify view corridors and remaining buildable lots.

  • Confirm permits and documentation for significant remodels or additions.

  • Price ongoing landscape, pool, automation and specialty-system maintenance into the ownership plan.

Plan your MacDonald Highlands Snow Tour

The most revealing comparison is usually MacDonald Highlands versus Ascaya, with a second reference point in Summerlin if west-side access is also in play. I help buyers compare the club, architecture, views and recurring costs on equal footing.
