Summer House at Durango is actually a pretty cool vibe. But let's be clear: this is not a fine dining spot.

I usually come here for one thing: the hamachi. This time I tried a few more plates, so here are my full Snow Thoughts.

The Snow Score: Mid Tier

Mid tier. This is not somewhere you go to impress. It's somewhere you go to lounge, waste a little time and have okay food.

Want fine dining instead? Read my Mimi & Coco review: that one got an 8 out of 10.

What I'd order (and what I'd skip)

• Get: the Hamachi Sashimi, $19.95. The best thing I had, and the reason I usually come here. Yellowtail in a white soy ponzu with jalapeño.

• Skip: the Truffle Fries, $15.95. They can definitely do better on their truffle fries. They're the thin fries, and I'm not a fan.

• It's okay: the Spaghetti & Meatballs, $26.95. Pomodoro, basil and wagyu meatballs. It was okay.

Snow Thoughts: the vibe

First, the vibe. Summer House is a pretty cool vibe, and I love the color scheme. Think California beach house: white-washed walls, earth-toned tile and greenery.

Second, the occasion. Lunch, meetups, even a work happy hour. It's a great spot for happy hour, and great for small, inexpensive lunches with friends, family and co-workers.

Third, the service. Decent. Not over-the-top energetic, not especially proud to be there. Just decent service.

Bottom line: Overall, a pretty decent experience. Come to lounge, not to impress.
